Consumer Complaint: On Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX I received a phone call from XXXX at XXXX XXXX. I answered, and it had me press ” 9 ” to continue, which I did. I held for a moment confused by what was going on.

Finally, a woman started asking me my phone number and was very rude telling me I owed CITI bank a debt from XXXX and needed to pay them NOW {$2000.00} or they would file litigation against me and that would cost me over {$5000.00} and they would garnish my wages of 30 %. She asked if I wanted to be transferred ” upstairs ” to get this taken care of. I explained I had no idea what she was talking about, let alone from 13 years ago. She said they mailed me something in a YELLOW envelope, but people usually throw it away thinking it’s junk mail ; I explained I probably did the same thing. I even asked for documentation and she said no, I could be transferred but I had to pay and be transferred or they would take me to court. I again requested information and she wouldn’t provide me with anything.

She continued being very harsh with me and I kept asking her to be patient with me as I am trying to understand what is going on. I continually asked her to be patient that I am speaking nicely to her and not yelling, I understand that she probably gets yelled at often but if she is going explain what is going on, what company she is calling from explain I would appreciate it. She continually said that if I don’t pay they will take legal actions against me and do I want to be transferred.

I asked her who did she represent. Was it CITI Bank or another company. She said, ” XXXX XXXX ”. I asked the litigation of who? CITI or someone else. She said she was with the XXXX XXXX. OF CITI BANK collecting debt. So, I asked her again, because she was getting loud and frustrated with me as I was trying to understand and kept saying they’ll take me to court and was being rude. I explained that I was being nice to her trying to understand. I then asked for her to transfer me to a manager if she couldn’t be nice and patiently explain this to me that maybe that person would. She would not transfer me. I then asked for her name at which point she then hung up on me! I have no idea what is going on, what the actual name of the company is or if there is an actual debt I am not aware of from 13 years ago!

So, I am still without any understanding of who/what this company is, who called ( other than the ” CITI Bank XXXX XXXX ” any documentation and concerns about a suit being filed against me for I don’t know what about an unknown debt from 13 years ago!
