Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I got a call at my workplace from XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX about an old debt that I co-signed with my father ( deceased ) on his XXXX card about 12 years ago. He used the card to purchase a TV and I co-signed. I never got any written notice about this debt or attempt to collect the debt. I recall that it was paid in full. They said the debt was {$450.00} but they threatened to escalate it to {$4000.00} with legal fees and court costs. I got a second call from the same person on Friday XX/XX/2018 again at my workplace for the same thing. She also threatened to send someone to my workplace to serve me. A third call on XX/XX/XXXX was from XXXX XXXX with XXXX also at my workplace. The phone # they gave me was XXXX and the account # was XXXX. The method of payment they wanted was for me to use XXXX or XXXX with email receipt. I did not agree to that. I asked for a mailing address and he did not give me that information. I did let them know that I disputed this debt and I called the XXXX card company and found out that account was closed a long time ago. I have not heard back since XX/XX/XXXX. I have contacted my Legal Aid office and was advised to file this complaint. I do not believe this is a legitimate debt collection firm since I never received any written notification from them.
