Consumer Complaint Submission

Date Received: 2018-05-24

Product: Other debt

Issue: Written notification about debt

Consumer Consent Provided to Share Complaint: Consent provided

Consumer Complaint: Receivables Management Services sent me a letter that I owed money and explaining that they were a debt collector. The letter did not provide details of the debt claimed.
I called around XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about it. I explained that I was never contacted by the creditor. I went online to my account with the creditor and confirmed no debt was shown.
I called the creditor and was confirmed there was no debt.
RMS called me on XX/XX/XXXX about the debt and I explained that XXXX confirmed on XX/XX/XXXX that there was no debt.
I received no further communication after this.
Today, XX/XX/XXXX I talked to XXXX at RMS and her supervisor XXXX XXXX and they confirmed that the case has been closed and there is no debt to collect. However, they denied a written confirmation of this.
If the original communication of a debt came from RMS I expect a letter from same sender explaining the status of the case, especially when the creditor never tried to claim a debt in the first place.
After 15 minutes on the phone they still denied giving me a written confirmation for my records stating what they were saying ” case closed, we no longer have a debt to collect ”.
