Consumer Complaint: I was hospitalized on XX/XX/2017, I XXXX XXXX XXXX and had to have XXXX XXXX. As a XXXX XXXX I am aware of the policies in a hospital. I was brought in via ambulance and was sat in the waiting room for over an hour while my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and I was XXXX. This is a direction violation of federal law EMTALA The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. I immediately notified XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and that I was unable to sit up, this was also conveyed to the nurses, yet I was placed in a wheelchair and sat beside a trashcan in the waiting room because ” their XXXX XXXX patients were occupying the ER rooms ” After waiting for an hour in immense pain I asked for a cotton swab and band-aid to remove IV so that I could be taken to receive proper care before I XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Per their ER MD, had I not raised sand and gotten back there, I could have possibly lost my life. As a XXXX XXXX I was truly disgusted & appalled at the behaviors of the medical staff at this facility. I feel extremely saddened that there are patients that receive this type of care and no one is there to advocate for them. The hospital was paid by my employer & insurance company XXXX and I had to pay a XXXX co-pay. Due to the services received, the negligence of careless, insensitive staff, the violation of federal law, I am not obligated to honor this debt they insist I owe.
Please take these factors into consideration as I am unable to pay this debt. Thank you for your time.
