Consumer Complaint: Dear CFPB Staff : I would like to remind you of a fact you are already well aware of : the collection agencies are arrogant, refuse to follow the law and they respect no authority. They feel they are above the law despite paying out millions in fines and court-costs.

This is my story about how dirty the collection agencies are.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I disputed, via Certified-Mail with Return Receipt, a XXXX account in the amount of {$180.00} with XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, of XXXX, XXXX. I have proof, via the tracking number and the signed returned receipt, that XXXX XXXX received my communication on XX/XX/XXXX. I did not receive any response from them, and in about 3 weeks or so the derogatory was gone from my credit report. I was, of course, very elated.

Here comes the bad part, at least to me. About a week ago I saw, with great shock, the same XXXX collection account appear on my XXXX credit report under a different collection agency name. Then about 2 days ago it appeared on my XXXX credit report too. The new collection agency is : XXXX XXXX : XXXX, based in XXXX, XXXX. Can you believe that? How dare they do this? This is a blatant and flagrant violation of the FCRA and FDCPA. Since the original collection agency could not collect on the ‘fake ‘ debt they sold it to another collection agency. This new collection agency, XXXX XXXX, lied by stating that the last activity was XX/XX/XXXX. This is a blatant lie.

I am kindly requesting you, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to help me in this matter. Tell them sternly that both the above collection agencies broke the law by their actions. Please order XXXX XXXX to delete the derogatory account from my XXXX and XXXX credit reports immediately. Show them some teeth and some authority. Let them know who is charge here. You are the federal agency ; you wield plenty of power. You know how dirty and unethical these collection agencies are. The people running collection agencies have no heart or compassion. They are quite XXXX people you know.
