Consumer Complaint: I have been going back and forth with this collection agency and the creditor for now almost 6 years. I lived at a property for a short time and when I moved out I was given misleading information. The collection agency at first tried to collect an amount of {$2700.00} when in actuality I allegedly only owed {$650.00}. I contacted the creditor XXXX XXXX who corrected the amount but it took close to 1 year to accomplish this. I offered to pay the {$650.00} but asked that the debt be removed from my credit report because if the original balance was {$650.00} and not {$2700.00} I would have paid it no questions asked. Due to the lack of cooperation from the collection agency Fair Collections And Out and then the drawn out emails and constant back and forth with XXXX XXXX AKA XXXX XXXX it was discovered that the balance indeed was {$650.00} so the entire time they damaged my credit based on a false amount owed which is against the law. I will attached the email chain so you can all see it. It took me many phone calls and their office manager at the time to fill me in on the information so I could get the correct amount. When I told them the office manager gave it to me they didn’t believe me so I had to show them proof of my phone calls ect. This was very deceptive on both Fair Collections And Out and XXXX XXXX to try to scam me out of {$2700.00}. They did however correct it to {$650.00} and as a courtesy I asked them to please send me courtesy deletion letter or email showing good faith that they would correct the issue and remove it from my credit because it was not done correctly from beginning ( which I offered to pay when I moved out the correct balance ). They refused to do so. Now I could let the debt expire and pay nothing but I would rather take care of the debt and pay it. My offer still stands to pay the debt but have it deleted because it was wrong from the beginning to the tune of {$2000.00} off.
