Consumer Complaint: Last night, XX/XX/2018 I received a call from my mother explaining that Wells Fargo had drained all of their bank accounts. Unfortunately, my checkings account was still linked to my dad even though he never uses it himself and all money in that account is made and used by me, a financially and legally independent adult, which could be proven with the tranctions therein. However, I didn’t have authority to unlink him from my account and he didn’t take action in time to unlink himself. So, I understand that because the account is technically joint, Wells Fargo has a ” right ” to set-off any money for debts that my father owes. So I was hit with the following transaction : XX/XX/18 Legal Recovery Set-Off, XXXX {$1900.00} But I just find it absurd how I haven’t been given any information prior nor any useful information after trying to contact them. Any attempts to contact them are met with ” there’s nothing on your account, your dad would have to contact us, it’s a government thing, we don’t have any other information for you. ” etc. I’ve called the number on the transaction, their XXXX number, and emailed them all to get mostly non information. They are making no attempt to work this out with me or even explain to me what exactly is going on. This will disrupt my ability to pay bills in the near future.
