Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/18 an alert appeared on my credit file with a collection in the amount of {$5000.00}. I immediately called Amsher as I didn’t recognize the debt. I had not received any notice of a debt before it being submitted to the credit agencies. When I reached someone at the company, I was told that the debt was a business debt, and was transferred to their business department. I was told it was a debt from a company I worked for. I explained that the company debt was not my own, and was immediately transferred to a man who stated he was the CEO.

I asked why I never received a letter about a debt, and how they determined that I was liable for the corporate account? He stated that they are not obligated to send letters nor verify who is responsible. I then asked for his mailing address so that I could send my request in writing. He goes on to say that I needed to ” care about my money, I’m responsible, I needed to be quiet and let him speak ” and so on. He also stated that he wanted to make me an offer to settle the debt for approximately {$3000.00}, even though I told him the account did not belong to me, which the company was already well aware.

Very upset, I kept insisting on his name and address for about 10 minutes. He then started to belittle me stating that ” let me pull up XXXX and show you how easy it is to get our address ”. The inappropriate exchange was at least 15 minutes before he finally gave me the address so that I could submit my request for a debt letter and verification in writing. I then hung up.

All of this because I never received a debt letter so that I could verify the debt and dispute as necessary. When I attempted to dispute with the credit bureaus, Amsher still refused to research the account, even though I submitted my final bill from XXXX showing that I didn’t owe the debt. They also called other employees of the company stating that I owed this debt. This company is a scam who is only in the business to force anyone to pay a debt ( which they purchased ), even if not legally obligated to do so.
