Product: Other debt

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Consumer Consent Provided to Share Complaint: Consent provided

Consumer Complaint: I cancelled my service with XXXX and chose XXXX cable service. I no longer had any contract term and was looking for better pricing which XXXX was able to bundle. Equipment boxes were sent to us and all XXXX equipment was promptly returned.
I never received another bill from XXXX but rather was sent a collection notice from XXXX ( {$220.00} ) I sent a letter ( attached ) to XXXX who sent a letter back to me stating that they no longer were handling the account ( also attached ). The date of this letter was XX/XX/18, the same date as yet another letter had been sent to me from Sequium, a different debt collector asking for the same debt information. I then sent a letter to Sequium ( attached ) which to this day has been unanswered. I noticed that this false debt is now registered with the reporting agencies. This is clearly a shell game for collection agencies who feel they don’t have to respond to consumers. As you can see, I have spent much time and money on certified letters and tracking information but still have no resolve. This clearly is an attempt to simply wear down consumers and just have them pay.

I’ve never received any details as to what the debt could possibly be. Service was terminated by choice and equipment returned.
