Consumer Complaint: I have been paying on a parent loan that I took out for my daughter I had them set me up for a monthly payment of {$82.00} because that is currently all I can pay right now and I got an email this month where my payment balloon to {$240.00} and I called customer service to see if there is any way I can try to keep my payment at the {$82.00} so I can continue to make my payment even if it takes longer but I know I can pay that per month. The over seas representative that I spoke to was not only extremely rude but he told me since it’s a graduate repayment loan I have no more options of them lowering the payment for me but I can apply for a deferment. I don’t understand why they would want me to defer the loan instead of work with me so I can pay off the loan. I ask to speak to a supervisor who is also an overseas supervisor and she told me the same thing. It bothers me that this company navient who has been on the new before for unscrupulous business process is trying to keep people from paying their loan off with a reasonable payment per your income status instead they are forcing you to either have to file for deferment or let the loan get delinquent before they can help you. I am desperate to find help because all I want is to set up a reasonable payment amount per month so I can continue to make my loan payment but was refuse with options that I don’t want to have to use.
