Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/18, I received a letter from Affiliated Creditors Inc. stating an alleged debt in the amount of {$56.00} from ” XXXX XXXX XXXX. ” This alleged debt came in response to my prior landlord giving me the ability to move out a day late, which was given in good faith over the phone on a recorded line. On XX/XX/18 I disputed the charge via an email to ” XXXX ” ( attached ). In this email, I included facts and proof of this conversation and agreement. On XX/XX/18, I was contacted back from ACI by XXXX who informed me that I was still responsible for the debt. She could not provide me any insight or verification about the alleged debt since my supporting documentation. After reviewing the FDCPA, specifically section 809 which deals with the validation of debts, I called back to speak with XXXX on XX/XX/18 to ask for the ” verification or judgment ” that was supposed to be mailed to me after my dispute. She became defensive and asked where I was getting this information. When I informed her this was from the FDCPA, she laughed it off and said ” I will send you what I have. ” I asked what this was, and she asked what I had. When I told her I wasn’t trying to play games, but simply wanted the verification of the debt, she said ” I’m not fighting with you over {$56.00}. ” While this {$56.00} may not be a big financial burden for XXXX, it is to others. If {$56.00} isn’t that big of a deal, than perhaps she should pay it. Regardless, she was only able to tell me that ” there was nothing in writing because it was a conversation the apartment manager and their associate had over the phone. ” If this is the case, how am I as a consumer supposed to have any clarity to the debts in question? I doubt I will receive any further correspondence from her or ACI because of the way in which she handled herself. As a consumer, this worries me not only due to the financial nature of this ordeal, but also the credit implications it could have on my credit history. While XXXX may not take {$56.00} and a credit report seriously, I do.
