Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX and was advised I owed a balance of {$940.00} due to a patient first bill when I was sick and ended up going to the hospital back in XX/XX/XXXX. They original bill was only {$720.00}, I agreed to pay this amount only and asked for a settlement. They offered a settlement of {$850.00}, I advised I was unable to pay this much and that I only want to pay they bill I owe. I was told I signed some ” contract ” that I do not recall signing as I was INCREDIBLY ILL at the time and they are using this to get extra fee ‘s and charges out of me. I only owe my doctor bill and that is all I will pay. I recently call back in XX/XX/XXXX as it was hitting my credit showing the balance was increasing. I asked for a settlement for the {$720.00} and was turned down. They advised me I could pay the {$850.00} settlement right then and there or they will not settle. I could not even get a few days to get the money. Currently there is a balance of {$320.00} owed and I refuse to pay anything higher then the bill amount. I never received a letter stating anything I owe, I received a phone call. Nothing in writing ever!! It is against the law to make someone pay a debt larger then the bill amount. I will pay the doctor bill owed and that is it. I should only owe {$120.00} as I paid {$600.00} in XX/XX/XXXX for the bill of {$720.00}.
