Consumer Complaint: I am filing a complaint on behalf of my sister. She has a medical condition and is on XXXX. She has always been on XXXX in her adult life. What I am now learning is she had credit cards, used them in excess. She owed a large amount of money to a debt collector.
In fact, now that I have been monitoring her spending, a debt collector is automatically getting money each month from her bank account.
I am in agreement, my sister never should have been issued credit cards. Even after she was in a debt, XXXX sent her new credit cards. She still wanted to use them because she did not understand how she obtained the debt. Can a debt collector, collect money from her as her income is XXXX income?
My sister is now in a XXXX home. Can the company continue to collect on her debt? I have called them, but they will not speak with me anymore. They want my sisters signature which we sent, even though it is not a legible signature at this time. The company said they did not have the letter.
