Consumer Complaint: My daughter called Caine & Weiner on XX/XX/XXXX around XXXX XXXX, acting as me I guess to find info on this. They did not verify info to make sure it was me. they released to her the Creditor and the balance and continued to discuss the file with her. i did not like that this was done. So, I called them on XX/XX/XXXX around XXXX XXXX I then find out and I called them and asked straight off to spoke with a manager or supervisor, i was transferred 2 times. I spoke with a supervisor and off the bat when i explained the issue, he stated they did not have to verify and became combative. I told him before a debt collector gives any info they have to verify info to make sure they are speaking with the correct person. That is FDCPA Law. He stated what info was released to my daughter. I told him the creditor and the balance. he stated they don’t have to. I told him i am in collections. He then started to ask me, first party, third party what type am I in. I told him Legal. i work for an XXXX office, the same as him. He said well then you know. i said yes i do know. I know per FDCPA that you have to verify last 4 of social and date of birth before you speak to anyone to make sure you have the correct person. I told him that i will be reporting this and that the call recordings they have will show that a violation was made. He proceed to tell me their calls maybe recorded. I told him i know all calls are recorded, that is how they can monitor if the collectors stay in compliance to the law. the hole time we were talking he was talking over me. I had told him i was reporting this issue. He did not like my response. There is no telling how many times they have broken the law. I do not appreciate my personal information given to anyone even my daughter. Verifying people is a Key point in a collectors job.
