Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/18 I contacted PRA — Portfolio Recovery associates in XXXX, VA on their XXXX number to arrange payment of three settled credit card accounts my attorney had worked out with their attorney. I made payments for {$350.00}, {$370.00}, and {$600.00} to them by phone.
The first payment of {$350.00} went through my XXXX XXXX XXXX account and subsequently showed as resolved on my credit profile at XXXX XXXX — which improved my credit rating. The other two payments were confirmed by mail from PRA ‘s office in XXXX, CA showed up on my bank account and then disappeared. I have been unable to resolve this mixup ever since — by email and phone and am repeatedly referred back to my attorney.
I have emailed my attorney again as of today — sicne I was told to pay the original amounts instead of the settle amounts. I think this is an ugly way to run a debt collection business.
The agent son the phone said the payments must have bounced because of insufficient funds. This is XXXX XXXX. I had several hundred thousand dollars in that account at the time. One of 3 debits got processed. The other 2 didn’t and they’re blaming me for insufficient funds. I attempted to make full timely payments and they are refusing to cooperate in a reasonable manner.
