United Relief Center – Consumer Complaint – January 23, 2019

Consumer Complaint Submission

Consumer Statement:

I was called by United Relief Center claiming if I consolidated my loan with them, my student loans would be forgiven after 40 months.

All I had to do was pay $49 a month plus interest for 40 months. What they did was take a loan out in my name with a 3rd party entity (Equitable Acceptance) and now I owe them. What happened was, Equitable Acceptance paid United Relief Center in full for the loan so got their money.

Equitable Acceptance is out that money and want it from me. I call United Relief Center and they say “Hey, we don’t have anything to do with this; you need to contact United Relief Center. They have your loan”. So I was really scammed here and feel like an idiot!

Consumer Action Taken:

I tried emailing them but, big surprise, the email comes back “address not found”

I too was called by United Relief Center back in August 2017 claiming if I consolidated my loan with them, my student loans would be forgiven after 37 months.

All I had to do was pay $49 a month plus 17.99 monthly interest for 37 months to pay off $1,377.00 requested by United Relief Center to satisfy my student loan forgiveness program.. What they did was take a loan out in my name with a 3rd party entity (Equitable Acceptance) and now I owe them. What happened was, Equitable Acceptance paid United Relief Center in full for the loan so got their money. I was contacted in February 2019 by NAVIENT, (Department of Education), that I needed to make monthly payments to them for my student loan.
