Student Loan Assistance Programs

Student Advocates Turned Me Over to Titan Home Loans

Written by Steve Rhode

Question:

Dear Steve,

My student loan service, Student Advocates, turned my loan over Titan home loans. Is this company working with the Federal Dept. of Ed.?

Is this company (honestly) helping me with my student loan?

Patrick

Answer:

Dear Patrick,

I have no clue why a student loan assistance company would redirect you to a home loan company. Is Titan Home Loans collecting on your agreement with Student Advocates?

The Department of Education has no agents that I’m aware of other than the servicers they hire to manage the loans.

There are outside services they say, as Student Advocates does, that they provide “guidance on how to navigate through DOE programs and requirements.” – Source
