was one of those people who fell for Ameritech scam on student loans. I paid $100.00 monthly for about 8 months when I realized no payment was made on my student loans. I was told by Ameritech to continue to pay for loans including with them. Made no sense so I stopped paying them. Well, it cost me over $1000.00 in interest fees on my loan and just recently received another company that is doing the same thing. They told me they are with Department of Education with the same lines that Ameritech gave me. I turned them down. They called from at phone # 1-714-406-4370. I have even asked Ameritech to refund me the money I already paid them and they refused. May be you need to report this other company who is doing the same thing. I have lost plenty of time and money over this with no positive outcome.
Consumer Action Taken:
Called Ameritech several times at 1-800-792-8621 to request refund and signed agreement; received Signed agreement but no refund. This started on 04/19/2017 and they took $1000.00 appox. funds without making payment to student loans which caused interest rate to increase. I have filed several complaints to FTC with no result. Everyone is telling to wait and it’s now going on for 2 years with no results. When trying to contact the company again with the phone above-now its disconnected.
