Question:
Dear Steve,
I attended IADT and didn’t graduate. I left the school after my department was closed /merged with another. They didn’t tell us they were closing/merging the departments for a couple of months. Instead, they told us we were just learning the basics in case we needed a more rounded skill to get hired. Not at all true.
Do I qualify for any type of forgiveness with this school? I have both private, heavily pushed on us, and federal loans with them.
CM
Answer:
Dear CM,
When it comes to your federal student loans there is a brief window to potentially get your loans quickly forgiven through the Borrower Defense to Repayment program through the Department of Education. It is worth exploring.
On the private loan front, Navient announced recently that some private student loans might be forgiven but debtors would be notified if they would get forgiveness. There is nothing you can proactively do.
When it comes to the Navient forgiveness for private loans, you should listen to this recent podcast below.
