Slovin & Associates Says I Owe Autovest. I’m Disabled and I Don’t.

Question:

Dear Steve,

Received a letter from Slovin and Assoc. Reading Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio, saying I owe Autovest L.L.C., $32,855.23. I do not owe this.

I did not live in Ohio in May 2015 when they said I owed this.

I recently was put on disability and was hospitalized with a broken neck and cancer.

Should I ignore this letter described above from Slovin and Assoc, or what should I do? This is not my debt.

Sherri

Answer:

Dear Sherri,

Since you are disabled, I would suggest you contact the good people at the nonprofit law firm HELPS.

They can help you resolve this with legal representation for almost nothing.

It is often better to deal with a debt situation than just ignore it, or it can escalate into something unfortunate. Don’t just ignore it.

Eric Olsen is the director of HELPS, a great guy, and a frequent contributor in the comments on this site.
