  • If you deal with them you really need to stay on them. You can tell them you want to settle something and if your account is short you can give them the extra money. I owed one bill of 2k. They took what I had in my account and I paid them 1k just to be rid of it. Now I am choosing what I want to settle one by one. I make them call and negotiate and will pay when I have the cash. You cant just sit back and give them money. Stay on them. I email my girl all the time with updates etc. You should have known going into this it would ruin your credit. My husband and I had great credit and its shot. But if you get a small CC with a $250 limit and pay it off each month that will help boost your credit back up once your settlement is done.

  • I started a contract with Key Debt in May 2009, and have been paying the monthly fee which will stop next month, with a total of @ $4000 in Fees, and a accumilated $2300 savings for my settelment offers.I call Key Debt on a regular basis, bug and bug them to tell me what is going on, at first I thought i was screwed, but after speaking with a gal and telling her my fustrations, she actually put me on hold settled one of my accounts that was 8600 for 2200… I called and confirmed and 1 big account is done. Now on to the next. I am a beleiver, so far so good for using Key Debt Services.

  • I am still in the middle of my “contract” with Key Debt and I don’t feel any more at ease than before I started this whole thing. I pay them a “set” monthly fee and put money monthly into a savings account. While doing this, my bills went into arrears, which they had not been – I was just making minimum payments. This all happened because I was no longer able to work due to illness. Although my husband still is employed, it just made things really tight and this seemed the way to go. But in the past year, we now have a RUINED credit history because so many things went without being paid for so long, and I was told not to speak to these companies. I still have two bills that have not been paid due to their size, and I have no idea how long it will take to get to that point. Key Debt refuses to contact a company until they are ready to make an offer. Unfortunately, (or fortunately)I also have a bank credit card I did not include in this plan, as well as a couple of other cards that I thought I could handle, because I never expected to be out of work going on 2 years later. But I am now “STUCK” with their “FEES” and still in debt and the stress is “KILLING ME”

I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANY MORE!!!!!

    • Pat,

If you want to put an end to this as quickly as possible you need to talk to a local bankruptcy attorney. If you qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy this would be over in two to three months.

      • Steve,

I am ashamed to admit that when we were first married (oh so many years ago) we had to file a Chapter 7 them also. It makes me believe that I really didn’t learn anything as I got older.

If this was an avenue that my husband was willing to look into, do you know how we would handle the fact that we still owe Key Debt their monthly fees for approximately another year?

        Thanks –

        Pat
