I Am Public Official and So Confused in Looking for a Reputable Debt Settlement Company. – Bori

“Dear Steve,

I am being sued by Citi. I have $48,000 in debt. I got in this mess because my husband had no work for a while. So I was just paying my mortgage and utilities. He is now working but most accounts have gone to collections and collections agencies do not want to accept monthly payment plans. I cannot file for bankrupcy because my the public information involved in bankrupcy may make me loose my position at work will suffer if I do. It is a political office position and filing bankrupcy will ruin me

I am looking for a debt settlement company that can help me. I do not want to get scammed. I have been looking and researching and I am SO CONFUSED. Can you please email me the name of a reputable company or an attorney or something. I live in CT. Thanks.

Bori”

Dear Bori,

You know, being sued is a matter of public record as well. A bankruptcy can instantly stop this and any future lawsuit or you can have a string of lawsuits and potentially a wage garnishment or two. Being represented by a debt settlement company or an attorney does not prevent you from being sued. Only bankruptcy prevents that.

Before you launch into the debt settlement route I think you should schedule a telephone consultation with Damon Day for him to review your situation first before you make a horrible mistake that lands you in worse hot water. I think you and agree the goal here is addressing your situation in the right way and not just what some might sell as a magic way.

Over the years I’ve helped my share of politicians and public officials so while your situation is stressful and potentially embarrassing, you are not the first person to cross this bridge.

Please update me on your progress by posting updates here in the comments section of your question. I’m very interested in how this works out for you.

Sincerly,
Steve

You are not alone. I'm here to help. There is no need to suffer in silence. We can get through this. Tomorrow can be better than today. Don't give up.
