Should I Call My Credit Cards Now to Tell Them I Am Going to File Bankruptcy? – Pat

“Dear Steve,

I have close to $50k in unsecured debt and am an 80 year old on Social Security & a pension. I plan to file for bankruptcy soon.

Should I call and cancel my credit cards now, or should I wait until I actually file?

Dear Pat,

No need to call. They will get their bankruptcy party invitation in the mail.

While some may say that bankruptcy would be unnecessary with your income only being public benefits, the advantage is that bankruptcy will stop all the collections activity and let you enjoy the rest of your life.
