  • I live in South Dakota. A few years ago a new state law (referred to voters and approved) effectively shut down most short term lenders calling them predatory. Any that wanted to continue operating had to lower their interest rates down to what banks are authorized to charge. MoneyNow charges, at a minimum 261%, up to a maximum of 1306%. Its tempting to apply just to see if they would be able to loan money here, and to read the fine print to see how they do it.
Additionally, the application form asks for way too much personal information. Although not much different than a bank, I just don’t trust it is safe and secure like they advertise.

  • I just got a call from India and the guy claimed we had borrowed $300. from MoneyNowUSA back in October or November (he couldn’t give me a specific date). He said we had never paid a penny back and he was sending 2 court officers to my house in the morning to take us to court for it. (Now, tomorrow is Saturday for one thing, the courthouse isn’t open, and for another thing if the City of Cleveland can send two guys to my house to take me downtown, then they have the time to fix the potholes in front of my house!) Of course I know we never borrowed from the place and told him I was looking at my bank statements as we spoke and there was no deposit from them, and no attempt to get an electronic withdrawal for the “loan”, so he was a scammer. He called me and my husband scammers and I told him I was going to call the Attorney General on him. He said he, himself, would put me through to the sheriff’s office and I told him to go ahead, PLEASE! Another guy from Mumbai got on the line and called us scammers and we’d better pay up!
Watch out for this place – appartently wether or not you use them!
