Hello Steve, I am 23 and have just recently began cleaning up my credit .there was one thing that stood out that I know didn’t belong to me and I disputed it.the dispute was verified and denied..later I found out that this debt actually belongs to my mother it is a light bill. I asked her about it and my mother says it does belong to her . She did agree to pay the bill but it has already been charged off! this debt is from 2005
Is there a way this can be transferred to her credit?
This should be an easy matter to correct if you can provide each of the credit reporting companies with enough proof for them to correct it without having to go back to the company to validate it.
Before when you validated the account you contacted the credit bureau and without enough information to go on they contacted the creditor who probably just said it was valid rather than check.
If your mother can provide a statement about the situation and showing the account was in her name you can supply that information with a copy of a new dispute.
Please update me on your progress by posting updates here in the comments section of your question. I’m very interested in how this works out for you.
