  • WORST MISTAKE I EVER MADE!!! signed up with Renaissance Debt Solutions in 2008. They said I would be out of debt in 2 years after paying a fairly high monthly fee. After 5 years and still not settled with the credit companies, I had enough. I ended up speaking with Sal, the VP. He said that the one company I was worried about actually was settled, but I am now getting collection calls for them again. He also said another company that should have been settled was not settled because the attornys at RDS “dropped the ball”. He said it should have been settled over a year ago, but due to their mistake, it wasn’t. He stopped my monthly payments but kept over $1400 of my money to finish the last account. $470 of which was supposed to be sent to me when this was complete. I have not been able to reach them for over 3 months now. All phone lines ring busy and no one is returning emails. I have looked online and have seen that others are trying to figure out what is going on. I can only assume they went out of business and now have, not only my money, but all the other poor people who had accounts with them, money. I am trying to figure out what to do next.

Another word of advise. There are many non-profit organizations who will help you set up payment plans without collecting a fee from you monthly that goes to them. Only to the people you owe. Companies such as RDS take at least $65/month for themselves. They don’t tell you that they let your credit go completely in the hole before they begin negotiating payments. You will still be harrassed by collectors, you could still be sued by collectors. It is a horrible scam, and I only wish I could go back and choose another option.

I am deeply disappointed in Sal as he assured me he was an honest Christian man and would resolve all of these issues for me. Even going as far as to try to sell me crosses to use as a fundraiser at my church. …

  • I would recommend them…highly. I am currently using their services and they have been extremely helpful. They have done everything they said they would so far. If I had 1 critique it would be that sometimes they have been a bit slow on answering my questions, however my account rep has always gotten back to me and she has been very professional.

I would also add that you have to be realisitic about your situation. Some of the deals have been very good, some have not been as good. However if you take my situation as a whole Renaissance has saved me money and has been a tremendous resource in terms of how to best handle my situation. You have to be prepared to deal with phone calls, attorneys, law suits, garnishments, etc. While it is frustrating at times and nerve racking, I have to remember that I put myself in this situation. Renaissance will help (and they have been!), but it is ultimately up to me (or you) to dig yourself out.
