I Was Trying Dave Ramsey But How Do I Get Out of Debt Without Hurting My Credit Score? – Susan

Get out of debt w/o hurting credit score

Consolidated 12,000.00 of credit card debt with revolving credit line a year and a half ago and still paying 401k loan I used to pay off my car. Then had to have root canals and crowns and up to another 3,000.00 of dental debt with a grand total of remaining debt @ about $18,000.00 and was trying the Dave Ramsey way until my hours were cut, then I tried to get a 2nd job like Dave says and after two weeks of waitressing my feet, legs and back are killing me, I have gone into a spiral of depression and everyone keeps telling me to think positive that I should be grateful because it could be worse. So then I feel guilty for feeling bad. I am a single mom, 46 years old and just don’t know what to do next, I did quit the waitress job.

What do I do next?

  • If Susan can’t afford to make her minimum payments and has no way of increasing her income, as I see it she has two choices: bankruptcy or debt settlement. She could try settling directly with creditors, but if not successful (which normally is the case) contact a reputable debt settlement company or two and find out what they could do.
