National Economic Relief Program Bogus Mailer. Stay Away.

A reader sent in the following mailer they received from something called the National Economic Relief Program at 2020 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington, DC 20006.

This is nothing more than yet another mailer pitching debt relief services under the guise of it being a government program. This is not true.

There is no government National Economic Relief Program and it is not a national consumer program put forth to U.S. residents. This is a commercial offer to sell debt settlement services.

It appears the bottom part of this mailer is an official looking check and the body of the mailer contains wording that in my opinion would mislead consumers into thinking this was some sort of government program.

Probably my favorite line is “…by as much as 70% through an appointed coalition of professional debt arbitrators who have been commissioned…” Pure and utter bullshit.

Then this is this part of the letter which you can apply the same comment to.

This letter is to inform you that you are eligible to receive as much as $[ ] in debt relief help through the National Economic Relief Program. This National Consumer Program was instituted on October 10th, 2010 to U.S. residents with at least $10,000 in unsecured debt.

If you or someone you know receives this mailer, tell them to pitch it.

Sincerly,
Steve

  • Steve,
Thank you for sharing this stuff (BS) with your readers. Icannot begin to tell you how frustrating it is when you speak to clients who actually believe this stuff.
Unfortunately, some of these marketing guys know exactly how to get consumers to believe these pieces and give the consumers false hopes of some Goventment bail out. Keep up the great work in exposing all of this.
