My Lung Was Hanging Out. We’ve Spent All of Our Retirement. I Need Help. – Cary

“Dear Steve,

I was in a wreck May 22, 2009. My right hip was broken badly, and left ankle broken. Metal plate were put in both breaks. My right lung came out of it’s rib cage. Came up through my ribs breaking four of those completely off and hanging up in the broke ribs.

Later that year the business in which I worked at had to close up. This caused me to lose the job I had. I was disable to work and finding a job was short for a 72 year old person.

All the money that was in savings and the Wife’s Well Fargo Mutual Fund for her retirement has been completely used up. leaving us with a very small income to pay over $174,000.00 debt secured and unsecured.

I need help in working out our debts.

Cary”

Dear Cary,

There are a lot of people here that want to help you. The readers of this site are good and kind people that would be willing to offer advice.

Let’s start with what your debts are. Can you post, in the comments section below, what your secured and unsecured debts are so we’ve got some idea?

If you own a home, is there any equity in your home? If so how much?

Are you expecting any financial settlement from the accident?

Was the accident your fault or the fault of someone else?

I understand you want to find a resolution to this situation but before you pursue any programs you have to pay for, please give me some more information so I can get you headed in the right direction.

Please post your responses and follow-up messages to me on this in the comments section below.

Sincerly,

You are not alone. I'm here to help. There is no need to suffer in silence. We can get through this. Tomorrow can be better than today. Don't give up.
