I discover things from all over the place. Sometimes a tipster (send in your tips here) sends me something or sometimes a comment catches my eye.
This time is was a comment about CRHELP.com, a legal referral service, having fake testimonials.
Sure enough, some of their testimonials are either copied or copies from at least one other site.
CRHELP.com describes themselves by saying:
CRHELP.COM is a non-profit referral service with a network of attorneys across the United States dedicated to helping individuals with credit card debt, debt problems, inaccurate credit report information, and contract disputes. If you are a member of the public looking to reduce your debt, do not make the mistake of hiring a credit counselor or debt settlement firm without first obtaining a free consultation with an attorney. – Source
The Fake Testimonials
I have no idea which site has the fake testimonials on it but here is what I found in researching the commenters concerns.
I’ll just show you what I found and ask you to help me solve the mystery of who is copying whom.
After all, shouldn’t you be able to trust a website that says they are a legal service? After this exercise, the answer is apparently not.

I have contacted both companies and brought this matter to their attention and asked them to provide a comment updating the situation.

I asked CreditCardLitigation.org to comment on this story and received a response from Mark Young.
He said:
“We market for CRHelp. We are a software company not their competition. The testimonials were provided by CRHelp. I would appreciate if you would remove this post and my personal information as it’s not valid to point this out as an issue with us being one in the same.”

reasonably should know resides in Utah
at the time it agrees to provide the services, unless the provider is
registered under the Uniform Debt-Management Services Act.
Debt management service providers are companies that offer to help a consumer
get out of debt quicker through one or more of the following: negotiating lower
interest rates on credit balances, forgiveness of late fees and other
penalties, reduction of principle balances.
