Who Really is Consult America?

It’s funny how just a simple email from a reader or tipster (send in your tips here) can start a chain of events or an inquiry that goes in the oddest of places.

Recently I got a tip that said LHDRHelp.com and Consult America (consultamerica.org) were related and were operated under the names of two debt relief executives we’d recognize and I’ve reported on previously.

The tipster (send in your tips here) also mentioned something about a mortgage program called Bond Corp, but that’s a different matter.

So I took a casual look at the two sites and they appeared to be unrelated but then I spotted this odd coincidence.

On the LHDR.com server are the following websites:

debtinate.com
debtlogicusa.com
elimadebtnow.com
encorecapitalusa.com
encorefactors.com
encorelhdr.com
fusionclientservices.com
helpsettle.com
helpsettle.info
helpsettle.net
irsalert.com
legalhelpersdebtresolution.com
legalhelperssupport.com
lhdrhelp.com
manhattanshoppingparty.com
purecleanersnyc.com
sfnewyork.com
timberlinecapital.com
timberlinecapitalusa.com
valuedhealth.com

One the ConsultAmerica.org server are the following sites:

calf.co
consultamerica.org
purecleaners.com
purecleanersny.com

twilliondollars.com

What are the odds of two separate and unrelated entities having sites with essentially the same Pure Cleaners name?

I noticed the Green Business Certified logo on the bottom of the cleaners site and remembered I had just seen the same thing on the Consult America site, odd.

The Consult America site also featured a BBB A Rated logo as well but a search of the BBB site could not locate any company named Consult America. A search of the Green Business Bureau could not locate a Consult America member either.

The Consult America website does not list the address for the debt relief company. The contact page shows a general map for Times Square in New York City.

Given that they appear to be located in New York I did a search of New York State corporations and found there is no company registered to do business under the name Consult America.

The website of Consult America is intriguing as well. The domain name was previously used by someone else but it expired. On April 22, 2011 it was brought back to life under hidden ownership.

    • Are they actually the lender or brokering a loan? You might also want to check available loans on LendingClub.com and Prosper.com

Both of those groups are peer-to-peer lending networks.

  1. This company does a bait and switch. They send out loan approvals which is a equity loan but most people can’t get approved. They will sell you Debt settlement. They will tell you that you have to send in your statements so they can do an analysis of your credit card statements so they can offer you options. which is really one option, debt settlement. They hire young adults who have no ideal what they are doing., They will tell you that it is guarantee that your debt will get settle or you credit score will only be affected slightly. They use Intercontinental mortgage as well as Associated Mortgage bankers. They are under the same management as legal helpers. Actually the legal helpers debt settlement is in the same building(same floor) as consult america, or the new law firm credit advocate law firm. Legal helpers should be located out of chicago but when you call they are actually in nyc, in the same building as consult america, credit advocates. more to come.

  3. Thanks Steve, my wife has been communicating with Consultamerica and as usual, was duped into this scam.  She sent them our credit card statements, all kinds of crap!  I put an end to the scam, and told them no thanks to the “enrollment”.  but is there anything I need to worry about as far as the imformation they have?  I’m almost afraid to know!

    • I would doubt anything will happen as a result but I’d make sure that if you’ve cancelled the service that they don’t contact your creditors on your behalf.

If you are worried about some kind of identity theft issue, I’d suggest you get a consolidated copy of your credit report every six months or so to keep an eye on it.

    • I have went threw Consult Americas debt reduction program and did fine.
They settled around 55k in CC debt for me. It was Rougfh at first I went
Threw a phase where I was unsure. But when you do things different for the first time
It’s always going to be a little scary. They delivered in all aspects. 8 months out
Of the program and my credit is back on track. Don’t believe all the people who
Make bad decisions with CC debt and are just to scared to do anything about it.
Have fun paying triple what you owe for 20 years….credit is relative!

  4. There is a Consult America LLC recently registered with the State of Florida with an Orlando, FL address..

    W. Calvin Bomar who appears on the Consultamerica.org web site appears to be affiliated with Ameriguard Tax Services in Jacksonville, FL. That company is an accredited business with the BBB.

Not sure what the relationship is at this point.

    • Mr. Bomar was separated from AmeriGuard Tax Services to start a partnership with the owners of Legal Helpers Deb Resolution, LLC a Delaware Corporation, and with Nationwide Support Services, you know who owns them.

      • Companies can hire a company owned by me to provide tax services for their clients’ cases, and those clients will receive very solid representation. That is not a partnership.  It is simply my company providing tax services (as an independent contractor).  If a company mistreats its clients in any way, I won’t work with them again.  If anyone has any negative information about anyone that hires me, please let me know.  I have no affiliation with AmeriGuard.  I stand behind my work and my results.  If anyone has a question or concern, they can schedule a meeting or teleconference with me.  If anyone ever receives less than the best possible result for their situation while working with my company, I will personally do everything in my power to correct it.  It is in the interest of clients if debt resolution companies can hire tax professionals to handle tax cases.  My feeling is, if I’m providing top quality work and results, there is no reason that I should not accept such work.  I am attempting to bring good service and results to a historically bad industry.

  5. Wasn’t there a group of shady guys (ex cons mabye) operating out of NYC changing the company name every 6 months?  Cannot remember who it was.  Good job Steve.

  6. I received a leter form a Associated Mortgage Bankers Inc offering a Debt consolidation loan.  I called the number and was called back by someone asking questions and requesting that I fax them my credit card statements.  I was leary and held off on sending the statements.  I later received a text on my phone from the same person with an email listed as ***@consultamerica.org
