I’m a State of Texas Employee. Can I Get My Student Loans Forgiven? – Carolyn

“Dear Steve,

I work for the state of Texas, and have several Sudent Loan that I’m paying back. If you work for the state 10 years or more will the help you pay your loan back….I am not a Teacher. My income is right at $30, 000.00 a years

Carolyn”

Dear Carolyn,

I took a look around and see that the State of Texas does have some student loan forgiveness programs for teachers and medical providers. Unfortunately I don’t see anything for state employees.

I would suggest you call your personnel department and ask them about such a program. It seems like it would be a tremendous employment benefit and if it existed it would be on their radar.
