If you feel you’ve been financially hurt by a debt relief company and deserve a refund, read these step-by-step instructions on how to proceed to attempt to get your money back.

If you do get your money back, come back and leave a comment about it. I’d love to praise companies that step-up and do the right thing for people.

  • Hi Steve, this is tadpole again.  Thank you again.  your hitful information is real helpful.  I have look at all 3 of my credit reports and I have need for inprovement.  I did not know that a line of credit on my checking account would be in my report.  I have a $500. line and I have used $435 of it.  I will pay that off soon.  After I clean up a few things I may try a secured credit card after all it could not hurt my credit.  Thank you, the light is getting brighter and brighter.

    • Try to keep your balances below 35% of your credit limit. Higher than that starts to ding your report and $435 out of $500 is not good for your score.

      • Thank you for thoses tips.  I am working hard to get all my balances down on my remaining cards.  Things are looking up since I got out of the debt restructor group.  Keep spreading the word so people don’t get scammed as I did.

  • Hi all I wrote a comment on Charles article and now you Steve Rhode.  Reading these articles helped me get out of that program.  It is nothing but a Scam.  I don’t want to say to much now I have some funds that should be returned to me by Meracord (formerly Note World).  I talked with a person form Debt Restructure Group and she said it would take a month so I calld Meracord and they said it would be deposited into my account on May 8th or 9th.  I looked up Meracord on BBB and they had a At.  Debt Group had a big fat F.  I would like to tell you more about my experience with them.  They suck!  I was told I won’t get 2500. of my money back.  Because it was in the contract.  I will get 669. back because I had been in the program for 9 months and it killed my FICO score. I had cival law suits against me and some pending.  Everything you do no matter if it is urgent they say we will take care of it in 3 business days.  If anyone is planning on using this services RUN not walk as far as you can from it!!   I did the smartest thing of my life I called all my creditors and it is costing me nothing half of what I owe and my monthly payments are the same as when I was in the program, and I will be debt free in April 2013.  Debt Restructure Group had me set up to finish paying them with $59. fee from each payment March 2015. My credit would be shot!  i would not be able to by toilet paper on credit.

    • tadpole shoots and he scooooooooooorrreeessssss!!!!

tadpole just shared with the world that there is nothing these companies can do for you that you cannot do for yourself.
tad, you fell for a sales pitch… and a costly one at that, but you caught on quick and corrected it.
      good on ya.

      • Thank you Steve, I did not put all my credit cards in that program.  I still have my Amex and I have a credit union card and and visa.  I have for now 3,600 limit on my Amex Credit Union I have 5,300 limit and on Visa I have 9,000. limit and they are all under 25% usage.  I plan to only keep what I have.  I don’t think I need to add more.  My score should go up once I settle with the others.  which I said will be paid off in April and these accounts are indefinitly closed.
