Consumer Statement:
I was called by Bay Area Credit Service for a bill I supposedly owed to AT&T for a cell phone bill in the amount of $2,000 and something from five years ago. I have never had a cell phone thru AT&T–ever. They then tried to tell me maybe a family member had one with my name. They did not have my right address and I did not give them my correct address. They said something about a lien on my property and then when I got really angry, they asked me for my date of birth so they could release this and get it off the record. I finally ended up giving them my date of birth.
Consumer Action Taken:
I tried to explain to them that I had never had service with AT&T nor had anyone in my family.

I used consumer law group in Florida and had to pay 1500.00 in fees. Is this against the law. had to stop the contract because I could not make the high payment of 427.00 per month. I did pay for 10 months.
