Can I Really Get an Unsecured Debt Consolidation Loan With Poor Credit? – Michelle

“Dear Steve,

Poor credit score below 600, great income if I didn’t have all of this debt,

Is there any company that will give me a debt consolidation loan with poor credit? Really trying to get my credit back on track and be able to provide for my family.

Dear Michelle,

None that I know of. In the range you are talking about you are looking at very expensive payday lenders. Legitimate debt consolidation loans are available from lenders like Lending Club but your credit score would need to be 700 or higher to be seriously considered.

Let’s start with the basics.

I’d suggest you first read How to Get Out of Debt. The Honest and Unvarnished Truth and The Truth About The Success Rates, Failure Rates and Completion Rates of Credit Counseling, Debt Settlement, and Bankruptcy. They will give you a great overview of what we need to deal with to get you moving in the right direction.

Then use the free How to Get Out of Debt Calculator to review your options.
