I Just Retained Macey Bankruptcy Law and Now I’m Freaking Out. – Annie

“Dear Steve,

I gave a retainer to Macey Bankruptcy Law and now I am reading these posts and freaking out. I am just trying to get my chapter 13 filed so that I can get my car back and get my life back in order.

How do I go about filing a chapter 13 without an attorney? Or is it best that I get one. It is so hard to know who to trust and now I am at a breaking point. I am running out of time. I’m scared of making a bad decision now that will make things worse for me. Please help

Annie”

Dear Annie,

I’m not sure exactly what you were reading about Macey Bankruptcy Law but the same prudence in selecting a bankruptcy applies no matter who you select.

You should feel comfortable with your bankruptcy attorney and have an open channel of communications. If you have any questions or concerns about them I urge you to pick up the phone and give them a call to discuss those concerns.

I think trying to represent yourself in a bankruptcy is not a wise idea. While it might be technically possible, I’ve just seen so many people screw it up over the years. Even the bankruptcy court says it’s a bad idea.

I realize your situation is a stressful situation but you need to have confidence in your specific attorney and know they are going to act fast to get your car back.

Please post your responses and follow-up messages to me on this in the comments section below.

Sincerly,
Steve

You are not alone. I'm here to help. There is no need to suffer in silence. We can get through this. Tomorrow can be better than today. Don't give up.

  • I went online to check for bankruptcy help and when I called Jacoby & Meyers they told me that the website (jacobymeyersbankruptcy) was legit. But when I got the confirmation email for my appointment it said Macey Law. That is misinforming and im sure alot of people fall for that. Im going to cancel my appointment with them
