American Web Loan – Consumer Complaint – 10-16-2012

Consumer Statement:

Back in August 2011, I was searching for a payday loan. I borrowed $400 dollars from American Web Loan. They were taking the monies out of my checking account. I realized that they had taken their monies and more from me. I had the bank to cancel my account and open up a new one. A year later ( today, 10/15/2012), I received a call from a man name Allen Parker stating that he had a supenao to take me to federal court. I asked him to open it and read it to me. He stated that it says that I wrote a bad check. I know I had not written any bad checks to anyone. Then he proceeded to give me this number (866-239-0473). He said that he was suppose to deliver the supenao to me soon. He called from a restricted number, would not give me his number, just a name. He said he was with the California State Bureau. He also gave me an extension (320), when I called the number, they said they were with Provident, the lady I spoke with did not giv e me her name, she just gave me a different extension. (305). She stated that I owed American Web Loan, $996. I told her that I never borrowed that much from them. She said hold on let me see if I can talk to the lawyer and get it reduced, she came back online and stated that the lawyer for AWSC said that I would need to pay that amount within 2 weeks. She asked how much could I pay today.

Consumer Action Taken:

In 2011, I tried calling the American Web loan, to tell them that they had taken to much money out of my account for the loan. They disputed it. I asked them why, I could not get into my account they setup online. They had no answer for that either. I also told them that I noticed on my bank statements that they had taken to much money out and that I did not owe them any money at all. That they owed me. I went to the bank and closed my account. The bank checked it out and found they had taken to much money from my account. I got a different account. Now a year later they are threatening me tell me they are taking me to Federal Court. Is this possible?

I just wanted to thank you for posting this! I got the SAME call yesterday too. He gave all my personal info to my boss, and then later told me I was going to be taken to court. After doing a LOT of reading about this Company yesterday, I’m confident n o one is being sued by AWL, or their “Legal groups”.
