USA Payday Loan – Consumer Complaint – February 9, 2013

Consumer Statement:

On Thursday, February 7, 2013, I was applying for PayDay loans online. I connected with several, but did not secure a loan.

During the course of my search, I received an inbound call from the phone number (872)588-4088. The gentleman on the line said he was calling from USA PayDay Loan in response to my online applicaton for a PayDay advance.

He said due to an internal issue with their server that they were not sure if everything was transmitted correctly and asked me to verify the information that they had. I verified everything, including my bank routing number and account number. They said they were going to verify my information and call me back. When they called back, they said I had been approved for a $3500 loan, but that I would need to send the first payment of the 12-month loan in the amount of a little over $360.00 and that I had to transfer it to them via a Prepaid Reload Card.

I purchased a Vanilla Network Reload Card from a CVS s tore located at 220 E. Madison St. in Tampa, FL, (813)228-0175. It was purchased on February 7, 2013 at 1:27 PM. I then called USA PayDay Loan, was transferred to their Processing Department, and was asked for the Pin Number on the back of the card, which I provided.

They said they would verify the funds and call me when my loan was transferred/deposited in my bank account. When I checked with my bank and there had not been a deposit, I called USA back again and was told that the loan was on hold because I had a poor credit rating and would have to pay another $274.00 for them to release the loan to my account.

Red flags were everywhere, so I decided to check further into the company and found numerous complaints filed for the exact same scam. I called them back to get a refund and was told the funds were on hold and could not be released until at least Monday, February 11, 2013. I said that if I didn’t have the funds in my account within 24 hours that I was going to contact the police, The Internet Crime Complaint Center which is partnered w/FBI, and The National White Collar Crime Center.

He then said he would have me arrested for not paying the additional $274.00 and hung up on me. I had my boyfriend, Jim Patterson, call and he was hung up on as well. I then went to my bank and closed my checking account because it was compromised and opened a new account.
