Universal Fidelity – Consumer Complaint – February 12, 2013

Consumer Statement:

I received a letter from Universal Fidelity LP, a collection agency supposedly hired by the legal successor of Hollywood Video. It states that I owe $9.58 from a rental on 4/28/09. I was immediately suspicious of the letter and went on line. At least two other people have complained to you about this company and one of the complaints was for the exact amount that they are claiming I owe. I don’t understand why there is not a response to these complaints. How do I know if this letter/company really is a scam?

Consumer Action Taken:

I have not tried to resolve the problem because I don’t want to acknowledge receipt of the letter and give the company more information about myself. For all I know, this could open a can of worms.
