This story by NPR really struck home for me as my 82 year old father has been very frustrated and confused by some of the phone calls and mail he’s been getting that are health related.
Some of the recent offers that have been hard to understand have actually come from AARP and AAA, both selling insurance coverage in conjunction with their membership lists.
Then on top of the phone and mailbox offers, the number of email scam offers he gets is disturbing as well.
While my father passes all offers past me, not all seniors have someone they can turn to for a clarity check.
If you have an elderly parent or friend, talk to them about running all such offers they get past you and tell them to never give out any personal information on the phone if they have any question about knowing the person on the other end of the line.
You are not alone. I'm here to help. There is no need to suffer in silence. We can get through this. Tomorrow can be better than today. Don't give up.
