Consumer Statement:
My vehicle was taken by my credit union even though it was current on payments. The credit union told me they can and wanted me to feel additional punishment from my ex wife. My ex wife is behind on another loan that has nothing to do with my car loan. I a disabled and need my car for physical therapy and many doctors appointments.
Consumer Action Taken:
Spoke with bank manager who said he did it because he can and said if I pay all my ex wife’s loans I could get it back.

Unfortunately it sounds like the typical credit union cross-collateralization agreement which gives the credit union that right.
You may want to consider closing any accounts you had with your ex-wife to prevent such things from occurring moving forward.
