I received the attached mailer from “Student Loan Servicing Center.” When I called, a man named David Mancuso (pleasant/nice) asked for my FAFSA pin, date of birth, and social security number in order to get started. I told him I was uncomfortable with that, so he gave me the website for me to check out the company, and a direct phone number to call him back (866.328.0212).
The BBB has a PO box for the company in Pasadena. I googled the corporate office at 18100 Von Karman, Suite 850, Irvine, California 92612. Student Loan Servicing Center is not one of the companies located at this address per google maps. I visited the facebook page as provided on the site, and all the comments are not in english! The page was created in September 2013…another red flag. Also, the mailer came in my maiden last name…and I changed my last name three years ago with my current loan institutions, but they had my current address (I moved recently). This just isn’t adding up.
Consumer Action Taken:
I haven’t resolved anything, because they did not get my SSN or DOB or PIN, but I would like to know if this is a legit company. Any help would be appreciated!
