QuiBids – Consumer Complaint – November 30, 2013

Consumer Statement:

Quibids is deceptive in opening account without providing up front information as majority of legitimate business practice such as $60 automatic fee.

After reviewing a national news report regarding Quibids, I decided to look into their service. In order to do so, you are requested information including your bank account without clear statement or information, stating your are charged automatically for $60 bids.

After a consumer is charged, then you are refer back to another location to obtain their automatic startup cost of $60 information in rather the small print of these important detail.

This is deceptive and a major complaint for numerous consumers. The customer support does not have telephonic support but I was able to chat with “Chris” who stated the company would refund me $60 in three days.

I received an e-mail notice a few minutes later stating I would receive a refund for the initial $60 startup bid in 6 days. My concern is the refund return time lines and the fact this company now has my personal information including my credit card data. I feel vulnerable and unsafe from this company, even though I retained their e-mail for my account deactivation and refund and maintained a copy of the chat conversion.

I believe my personal information in the future has the potential to become compromised. I read numerous complaints (after the fact) from consumers with compromised or illegal charges to their account after they deactivated their accounts.

I have never used their account or services and my intent was to actual review the service before purchasing. This company is deceptive since that option is not permitted. If the company would just clearly stated the reason your account numbers and address upfront, consumers can make a choice if they wish to use this company’s service.

It looks as if this company is using a legal loophole to deceive consumers. They need to become consumer friendly and transparent in their business practices. I am suspicious of any business organization that conduct business in this manner, especially collecting personal information from consumers.

I am also concerned with a company which has been established since 2010 and is generating a profit, does not maintain telephonic customer service for its customers or consistently received large number of complaint but yet is still legally operating.

Again, my main concern is my personal data’s high possibility of being compromised and the high probability that I will not receive a refund or may receive illegal charges on my account. Many consumers tracked this company’s contact information from legal sources such as an attorney or their financial institution and have experienced difficulty obtain customer service through their listed telephone number of 405-253-3883.

Consumer Action Taken:

I promptly requested a refund but have to wait until 6 days to see if the company will honor their internet chat and email reply stating that they would refund me. On my own, I plan to discuss this with my financial institution to prevent any future fraud or identity theft attempts from this company.
