A new study out comes to the conclusion if women want to explode the gender pay gap then they need to stop thinking about going to expensive colleges and universities.
“For women who attended elite institutions, the gender pay gap persists, they found. But for women who study in the lucrative majors [“science, technology, mathematics and business”], the pay gap disappears — regardless of the prestige of the institution the women attend. And the impact appears to be strongest for disadvantaged women, who otherwise face large pay gaps with men.”
Pick a cheap school but get a degree in a high demand area is the commonsense lesson to be learned if you want to compete with men on income.

Wow, it seems like this should be much more complicated than this. This doesn’t solve the issue (that any pay gap exists) but I’ll be advising young women in my sphere of influence about this. I work full time with high school and middle school students, they are going to hear about this. Thanks for the tip.
