“Dear Steve,

I am currently a full time student in dire need of taking out a school loan, and due to my current debt ($12,000.00) I have been denied on all of my loan applications. I have tried to pay off my debts, but I only work enough to pay my basic expensis due to being enrolled in an intense medical degree program. To make a long story short- my school is my main priority and unfourtunatly because of some really poor credit choices in my past I am payin for it now.

Is there a minimum debt that one must have in NYS in order to file for bankrupcy? How does bankrupcy affect future loan applications and credit request?

Melissa”
