“Dear Steve,

Filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy two weeks ago.

I did not include 3 credit cards as the minimum payments were not high and with family help, they can be paid. I called one of the creditors the other day to check on my bill and was advised to hold on which I thought was strange. Now, I don’t know if they are aware of my filing and what can I do about this now. Can I include these 3 after the filing?

  • You signed a statement under oath that the information in your bankruptcy petition and schedules was true and complete. Now you confess that you deliberately left off three creditors. Your bankruptcy schedules have to be amended to give a true, accurate snapshot of your financial condition on the date of filing. Contact your bankruptcy attorney so he can amend your schedules. Be prepared to pay him for the unnecessary work that you are causing him by having failed to disclose information.
