Consumer Statement:
I retained Macey & Aleman/Legal Helpers in 2009 for a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I paid off their fee (almost $2000) in 2011 and did the budget counseling and sent them a copy of the certificate. Explained my husband walked out on me (6/11) and it would take some time to come up with the $300 to file the bankruptcy in the Superior Court in Trenton,NJ as I wasn’t making money and was the only person paying the mortgage on the house and all the bills, they told me to contact them when I had the money raised.
I received 2 1099 C forms from 2 of my creditors and tried calling them to find out why I received these as my bankruptcy is still in process. To my dismay ALL their phone numbers have been disconnected in NJ, NY, PA and IL. I was ripped off the money I paid, never received a letter from them or a refund for not following through with what I hired them for. I’m unemployed again due to the company I work for closing and don’t ha ve money to retain another lawyer.
Consumer Action Taken:
I can’t there is no way to reach them, all their phone numbers are disconnected and never did receive an e-mail address for them.
