Court Orders Attorneys to Cough Up $5 Million for Debt Settlement Refunds

By on July 8, 2016

Judge Stanton has ordered that Vincent Howard, Howard Law, Lawrence Williamson, The Williamson Law Firm, and Williamson & Howard should cough up $5,326,981.13 that should be refunded to consumers for illegal advanced fee attorney model debt settlement services.

This was a continuation of the Morgan Drexen mess.

However, before any consumer gets excited that they will get a full refund of these illegal fees paid, the entities have already said they only have about $50,000 on hand. The next battle in this case will surely be an attempt for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to extract the money from attorneys Vincent Howard and Lawrence Williamson and their firms.

But the CFPB didn’t get everything they asked for, the Judge denied their request for administrative charges to process refunds until the fees were incurred.

If you have a credit or debt question you’d like to ask just use the online form. I’m happy to help you totally for free.
