Consumer Complaint: I have begin paying my Citibank student loan since XX/XX/XXXX, religiously. The only times I have ever missed a payment is if I was having financial difficulties or was ill. In XX/XX/XXXX, my account was closed and transferred to XXXX which is a XXXX extension and still under Citibank. How are they allowed to close accounts and move around under different shadow names without being noticed. The original loan amount was {$6400.00}. I have now Paid over twice the amount of the original loan plus XXXX extra. I have noticed that every 3 months they increased my interest rate by .25 %. Not only that, but I printed my account payment for XX/XX/XXXX from my online account portal for one amount in late XX/XX/XXXX after XXXX and I received my bill in the mail for same amount due on same date for a different amount. On my credit report they have placed remarks such as affected by natural disaster and I have never disclosed anything of that nature to them. I’m just at my wits end with what they are doing. I want to know if this is right and/or legal? It can’t possibly be!!! It states on my credit report for this account that I’m in a repayment term of {$110.00} x 240 months which equals {$27000.00} for a {$6400.00} loan which equals XXXX times the amount borrowed. Furthermore, if I even called to ask for some sort of leeway, there was no compromise and always an excuse as to why I couldn’t get an valid extension. I can not access my Citibank account whatsoever to print out all my prior payment information. I have done this on my XXXX account to investigate why have my loan really not done much going down. I have realized that not only are they increasing the interest every 3 months but they are also not applying all my payments to my Principal balance but instead are apply most of my payments to interest. Please help me figure this out, because this XX/XX/XXXX makes 8 years with no end in sight. I honestly feel like something is not right. I am disgusted and desperate.
