Consumer Complaint: A third party debt collection agen cy ( AP I Recovery Solutions ) not only called me on my cell phone, but also my parents ‘ house and cell phones, threatening to take legal action if I did not contact them and pay this debt. Since it was for a payday loan ( XXXX ) I had defaulted on a long time ago, I thought it might be real. I asked for a detailed letter of the debt and to take my parents off their calling list. I received an email with an attached letter from them on XXXX / XXXX / 2017 . It had my maiden name on the letter, not my current legal name. And, I had set up a payment arrangement with them to auto charge my debit card on the XX/XX/XXXX and the XX/XX/XXXX of every month. It was supposed to be {$420.00} for the firs t 2 payments and then {$100.00} for the rest of the payments until the debt was paid off. To authorize my payment, I had to sign a document giving them permission, which I never did. They had charged my card {$420.00} on XXXX / XXXX / 2017 and XXXX / XXXX / 2017 . And, so far have charged my card {$100.00} on XXXX / XXXX / 2017 , instead of just {$100.00}. They never sent me a schedule of payment. And, even after the fir st 2 pa yments came out, they called my Uncle and left a threatening voicemail. I called the original debt company, and they told me they sold my debt to another company ( XXXX XXXX ), who informed me they sold the debt to API. Since I was a ble to trail API t o XXXX , I thought the company was legit. However, charging my card with no signed authorization, charging my card a different amount than agreed, no payment schedule, and contacting my uncle after I had already set up an arrangement, made me suspicious.
